5The 5 days’ gorilla and Chimp tour is a complete primate trip featuring the chimps and 13 other primate species in Kibale National Park and the forest giants the mountain Gorillas in Bwindi national park in the southwest of Uganda.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park  

After breakfast you will setoff for Kibale Park the home of the largest population of Chimpanzees in Africa. There will stop over in Fort Portal town for lunch and a brief tour around the Crater Lake. Arrive in the evening and check in at the hotel/lodge right in time for your evening dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi Nature walk

Early morning breakfast will be served at the lodge after which you will transfer to Kanyanchu for briefing before Chimpanzee trekking that starts at 8am. The trekking experience will take you between 2-5 hours involving hikes through the forested landscape as you search for and learn about these closest relatives of human beings. Return to hotel for lunch and step out for the nature walk at the Bigodi wetland sanctuary in the afternoon. Watch out on the plenty of bird species and many other primates like the Vervet and L’Hoest Monkeys. You will return to the lodge in the evening for your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi National Park via Queen Elizabeth National Park

After a delicious breakfast, depart your lodge and head to Bwindi National park on a drive that will see you traverse through Ishasha area south of Queen Elizabeth National Park famous for the tree climbing lions. Herds of elephants and buffaloes are seen on the route.  You will arrive at Bwindi in the evening hours for your dinner and overnight stay at your preferred lodge.

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking Bwindi

After an early morning breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters for briefing with bother guests for allocation of your Gorilla tracking groups and meeting the rangers. You will then be led into the forest on foot in search for the Gorillas. The trekking experience takes between 2-6 hours depending on the location and movement of the Mountain Gorillas on a particular day. You are allowed to spend only one hour with the Gorillas in their natural habitat as you observe their peculiar habits in their natural habitat especially feeding on leaves.
You will later return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Entebbe/Kampala

You will drive back to Kampala after breakfast with brief stopover in Mbarara for lunch en-route to Kampala /Entebbe.
