During this 30-days conservation trip you will visit local communities and participate in unique conservation and tree planting activities. Join researchers for Chimpanzee Habituation Project in Kibale. You will get close with wild African big cats; you will join researchers on a Lion Tracking project in Queen Elizabeth National Park! This is not just an activity created for visitors, it is scientific research that is recorded and gives the researchers a better understanding of the habits of the lions found in Queen Elizabeth Park. This is the ultimate Uganda conservation and safari experience. National Parks and protected areas you will visit include; Kibale National Park, Semuliki National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. En-route, community initiatives included: Batwa pygmies’ communities, Bigodi community and tree planting projects with pearls of Uganda. Activities will include lion tracking, chimpanzee tracking and conservation experience, game drives in the world’s most beautiful national park, boat safaris, visiting traditional kingdoms, the Sempaya Hot Springs, photographing tree-climbing lions, Mountain gorilla trekking, and tree planting among others.

Tour Itinerary 

Upon arrival, you will be met by your guide from Ecovic Tours and Travel Uganda, who will then transfer you to your hotel/lodge/guest house a stone throw away from Entebbe international airport. 

Day 1
Kampala city tour

After an early breakfast, you will have a city tour in Kampala to visit the various sites like the Uganda Museum, Kasubi Tombs, Wamala Tombs Bahai Temple and the Namugongo Martyrs Shrine and many other places that will last the whole day. You will check in a hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2
Kampala-Kitgum

After an early breakfast, You will drive north through Luweero to Nakasongola district, where you will stop to track the white Rhinos at Ziwa Sanctuary, eat lunch and proceed to Kitgum town. Dinner and overnight stay in a Hotel of your choice.

Day 3
Kitgum- Kidepo Valley National Park

You will drive from a Hotel in Kitgum after breakfast for 3-4hours through Karamojong villages to Kidepo Valley National park. You will make calculated stops along the way for landscape viewing before entering the park. After entering the park, you will relax at the lodge and have lunch while we arrange for your evening conservation game drive, where you expect to view elephants, Cape buffalo herds, cheetahs, Roan antelope, Hartebeests, lions, and many more. Dinner and your overnight at the Apoka Lodge.

Day 4
Game drive and cultural experience- Kidepo Valley National Park

On this day, you will eat an early breakfast and then embark on an exciting morning game drive within the Narus Valley. This is where you are most likely to see lions, ostriches, jackals, etc. Later you will return to the Lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon you will have a cultural experience that will bring you into contact with the Karamojong people at Karenna and Kapedo. Meet with the local elders and appreciate opportunity to interact with them. They will show you the kraals, cultural huts called ‘mayattas’, their grinding stones and many more interesting items. Return to the Lodge for dinner and our overnight stay.

Day 5
Hiking/ Nature walks and Birding- Kidepo Valley National park

On this day, you will eat an early breakfast and then embark on an exciting morning 4hr hiking that will lead us to Lamoi Mountains or a 2hr nature walk around the Narus valley. Later you will return to the Lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon you will go for birding experience at Apoka rest camp. Return to the Lodge for dinner and our overnight stay.

Day 6
Transfer to Gulu City

Having had a delicious morning breakfast, you will drive to Gulu city, enjoying some game viewing and stops to take the landscape along the way. You will get to experience the beautiful nature and culture of Northern Uganda as you drive through the local markets and traditional huts. You will arrive in the evening and check in at Golden Peace Hotel for relaxation, dinner and our overnight stay.

Day 7
Murchison Falls National Park

On this day, you will leave early for Murchison Falls National Park, arriving early in the afternoon and you will first have lunch at the Lodge and relax. After your lunch and relaxation, you will embark on a game drive to the northern area of the park in search of lions, hunting dogs, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes and many more! Our checklist of animals will rise as we browse the drive circuits on our way to the Delta point. You will complete your day with a visit to the top of the falls and then return to Lodge/Hotel for dinner and our overnight stay.

Day 8
Game drive – Murchison Falls National Park

On our 8th day, you will wake up early and have breakfast before departing on a sunrise nature walk. Here you will be able to watch waves of white water tumble hypnotically through the 6 meter chasm, listen to the roar, taste the spray on your face and feel the rock shake beneath your feet. You will return for lunch before going on a three hour boat ride to the base of the falls, where you will see hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and a variety of beautiful bird species. You will return to the lodge/hotel for dinner and our overnight stay.

Day 9
Transfer to Fort Portal City

On this day, you will have your breakfast before transferring to Fort portal tourism city. Along the way you will pass through the Albertine rifts valleys and escarpments. You will also view some wildlife and take periodic stops (as determined by the driver and the tour guide). You will spend the evening relaxing in preparation for our upcoming adventures. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel/Lodge of your choice in Fort portal.

Day 10
Community Conservation Day with the communities of Kibale National Park

On this day, you will wake up early and have breakfast before joining the communities of Kibale National Park in Tree planting (Afforestation, Re-afforestation, and Forest Restoration), preparation of tree nurseries, community conservation education/awareness, traditional dance, eco-tourism among others. This will take you a whole day before returning to the Lodge/Hotel/Guest House for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
