During this 7-days conservation trip you will visit local communities and participate in unique conservation and tree planting activities. Join researchers for Chimpanzee tracking and conservation experience in Kibale national park. You will get close with wild African big cats; you will join researchers on a Lion Tracking project in Queen Elizabeth National Park! This is not just an activity created for visitors, it is scientific research that is recorded and gives the researchers a better understanding of the habits of the lions found in Queen Elizabeth Park. This is the ultimate Uganda conservation and safari experience. National Parks and protected areas you will visit include; Kibale National Park, Semuliki National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. En-route, community initiatives included: Batwa pygmies’ communities, Bigodi community. Activities will include lion tracking, chimpanzee tracking and conservation experience, game drives in the world’s most beautiful national park, boat safaris, visiting traditional kingdoms, Sempaya Hot Springs, photographing tree-climbing lions, Mountain gorilla tracking among others.

Itinerary

Upon arrival, you will be met by your guide from Ecovic Tours and Travel Uganda, who will transfer you to your Hotel/Guest House/Lodge a stone throw away from Entebbe international airport for relaxation, dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 1
Kampala- Kibale National park (Fort Portal Tourism City)

On this day, you will have your breakfast and embark on a 4-5hr drive to Kibale National park with several stops along the way before reaching Fort Portal town and the Park. You will arrive in the afternoon and have lunch at one of the Lodges or Hotels or Guest House in Fort Portal. After lunch, you will go to Amabere ga nyina mwiru cultural center for nature walk, hill climbing, wildlife and Stalagmites viewing and conservation experiences among others before returning to the Lodge/Hotel/Guest house for dinner and our overnight stay.

Day 2
: Chimpanzee tracking and conservation experience – Kibale National Park

On this day, you will wake up early and have breakfast before moving to Kibale National Park for morning Chimpanzee tracking and conservation experience at Kanyanchu visitors centre. Here you shall also be able to see abundant wildlife including; baboons, red tailed Colubus monkeys, vervet monkeys, various bird species, butterflies and many more. You will have lunch and then move to a cultural site called KAFRED for nature walk, bird and other wildlife viewing before returning to the Lodge/Hotel/Guest House for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3
Nature walk/Hot spring conservation experience – Semuliki National Park

On this day, you will wake up early and have breakfast then join the communities of Kibale in tree planting (Afforestation, Re-afforestation, Forest Restoration), tree nurseries preparation, community conservation awareness/education, ecotourism and traditional dance among others. You will have lunch then move to Semuliki National Park for Hot spring experience, nature walk and conservation experience. Here you also expect to see abundant wildlife including; baboons, red tailed Colubus monkeys, vervet monkeys, various bird species, butterflies and many more before checking in to the Lodge/Hotel/Guest House for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4
: Fort Portal-Queen Elizabeth National Park

After morning breakfast, you will embark on an exciting drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park situated in the shadows of Mt. Rwenzori with several stops along the way for equator and landscape viewing and Community Conservation talks with the communities of Queen Elizabeth National Park before arriving in the afternoon. You will have lunch and then embark on a 3hrs thrilling launch trip along the Kazinga channel where you will see hundreds of hippos, buffalos, while elephants linger on the shoreline and spot over 60 bird species during the trip. You will return to the Lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5
Wildlife Conservation Tour- Queen Elizabeth National Park

After morning breakfast, you will begin your day with a game drive in the morning where you are likely to see early risers, predators, bush bucks, hyenas, elephants, bush pigs, Lions, buffaloes and jackals and climbing lions. After the drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, you will embark on an exciting road drive through the Kigezi highlands and terraced hills of the Bakiga and Bafumbira people towards Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. You will then check in for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at one of the Hotel/Lodge/Guest House in Bwindi.

Day 6
Gorilla tracking and conservation experience – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early morning breakfast and briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority guides, you will set off for your Gorilla tracking experience within the forest sanctuary. The activity starts at 8:00am and you will be joined by other people according to the Gorilla family distribution (only 8 people are allowed to view each Gorilla family per day). Here you will carry with you packed lunch, enough drinking water, rain jackets and trekking boots. Walking sticks will also be provided if you are not sure of your fitness level. You will hire a porter to help carry the bag throughout the tracking experience because you cannot predict how long it will take for you to find these primates as they freely move in the forest. Your encounter with the Gorillas will last for about one hour but it will be a rewarding and amazing experience. After Gorilla tracking, you will return to the lodge/hotel/guest house for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Entebbe International airport/Entebbe

On this day, you will wake up early in the morning for your breakfast and then visit a local Buhoma Community Primary School – supported and managed by Bwindi community members that thrive on support from visitors and community efforts. The school’s mission is to create awareness of the environment for sustainable development through quality education. You will then embark on an exciting road conservation trip to Entebbe international airport with a stopover at Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch, landscape, equator viewing and experience. You will arrive at Entebbe international airport in the evening to catch up with your flight back home.

What to bring

  • Wear stout shoes or walking boots suitable for steep muddy slopes.
  • Gardening gloves are excellent in the forest when pulling on vines and nettles and during tree planting activity.
  • Carry rain gear, sunscreen lotion, a hat (as the weather is unpredictable) and insect repellent.
  • Porters are available to hire when need a rise.

Rules and Regulations when you are with Gorillas and Chimpanzees

  • Keep your voice down or be quiet.
  • Don’t point or wave your arms because it can be a threat.
  • If approached by gorillas, move backwards slowly to keep a 5m distance
  • Do not use the flash on the camera as this could cause gorillas to charge.
  • Do not mimic
