Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is the smallest of all Uganda’s national parks. The park was created to protect the mountain gorillas that roam freely within the Virunga region. The park is bordered by the Virunga National Park of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Volcanoes National Park of Rwanda. Itinerary for 3-Days Mountain Gorillas & Golden Monkeys Tracking Safari

Day 1
To Mgahinga National Park

On this day, you will wake up early and have your breakfast then transfer to Mgahinga National Park while enjoying a scenic drive that allows you to view the beautiful and varied country side. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is one of the luckiest and smallest parks in Uganda where the world’s critically endangered mountain gorillas are found and it happens to be part of the Virunga massif where more than 480 mountain gorillas are known to be living.

You will arrive in the evening and check in at Golden Monkey Guest House for relaxation, dinner and overnight. Golden Monkey Guest House is an accommodation that provides an excellent base for trekking the mountain gorillas, golden monkey and volcano hiking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

Day 2
Mountain Gorillas & Golden Monkeys Tracking

After your breakfast, you will hike to the Park headquarters just meters from the Lodge for briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority guides before transferring to the starting point for Mountain Gorillas tracking. Your tracking experience will be an exciting, yet challenging, journey along forested slopes, tangled vines, thick vegetation & bamboo forests before you reach the territory of these gentle giants. The visit will give you a glimpse into the life of a Mountain Gorilla family & if you are lucky enough to gaze into the eyes of a Mountain Gorilla. Visiting Mountain Gorillas will take you 3 hours to a full day trek through the forest since Mountain Gorillas move from one place to another every day looking for food & water.

After Mountain Gorillas tracking, you will go for Golden monkeys tracking for about 3 hours before returning to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3
Departure

On this day, you will enjoy your last sunrise and breakfast in this beautiful corner of Uganda before your guide drive you across the beautiful sceneries back to Entebbe and drop you off at Entebbe International Airport 3 hours before your departure time. Please make sure your flight departure is after 5 pm at the very earliest. For flights departing before 5 pm you will need an extra night in Entebbe, which we can help arrange for you at an additional cost.
