Itinerary for 5-Days Mountain Gorillas, Lake Bunyonyi & Murchison Falls Adventure

Day 1
To Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On this day, you will wake up early and have your breakfast then transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park while enjoying a scenic drive that allows you to view the beautiful and varied country side. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in the southwestern part of Uganda on the rim of the Rift Valley. More notably, this “impenetrable forest” protects an predictable 320 population of mountain gorillas – approximately half of the population in the world, among which are a number of habituated groups, that can be tracked by visitors. Bwindi is habitat to more than half the world’s population of Mountain Gorillas.

You will arrive in the evening and check in at Buhoma Community Rest Camp for dinner and overnight stay. Buhoma Community Rest Camp gives outdoor enthusiasts a taste of safari-style living and is an excellent base camp for gorilla trekking, as well as observing the many endemic bird species that inhabit the region.

Day 2
Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi & Canoe Ride on Lake Bunyonyi

After your breakfast, you will hike to the Park headquarters just meters from the Lodge for briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority guides before transferring to the starting point for Mountain Gorillas tracking. Your tracking experience will be an exciting, yet challenging, journey along forested slopes, tangled vines, thick vegetation & bamboo forests before you reach the territory of these gentle giants. The visit will give you a glimpse into the life of a Mountain Gorilla family & if you are lucky enough to gaze into the eyes of a Mountain Gorilla. Visiting Mountain Gorillas will take you 3 hours to a full day trek through the forest since Mountain Gorillas move from one place to another every day looking for food & water.

After Mountain Gorillas tracking, you will go for a Canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi, a scenic highland lake with 29 verdant islands that are good for guided excursions in dugout canoes (optional) before checking in to the lodge for dinner & overnight stay.

Day 3
To Murchison Falls National Park for Afternoon Game Drive

On this day, you will have your breakfast and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. The drive will take you through the western arm of the Rift Valley where you will also be rewarded with splendid views of the countryside with several stopovers en-route for lunch, landscape and beautiful sceneries viewing.

You will arrive in the afternoon and go for afternoon game drive where you will expect to view Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, different families of Antelopes, Hyenas and Leopards if you are so lucky.

After your afternoon game drive, you will check in to Fort Murchison Lodge for dinner and overnight stay. The lodge is set in a beautiful surrounding and looks out on the majestic Albert Nile that will add to your safari experience.

Day 4
Game Drive & Boat Safari on Victoria Nile

On this day, your safari breakfast will be served before the day breaks so that you can start your morning game drive as the sun comes up. Sunrise is the best time for wildlife spotting as animals tend to be the most active during the “golden hours”, when the first rays of sunshine come to rest on the savannah. Elephants, buffalo and several species of antelope are some of the characters you may come across today, & if you’re lucky, you may even spot a lion or leopard.

You will return for lunch in the afternoon & go for a 3-hours boat safari upstream on the Victoria Nile to the falls where you will pass by breathtaking scenery, as well as many crocodiles, hundreds of hippos, buffaloes, water birds, monkeys & other animals that come down to the Nile. The boat will drop you near the waterfall for your hike (1-1.5 hours) up to the top of the falls (optional at additional cost of $15 pp).

After your boat safari, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5
Top of the Falls Walk & Departure

On this day, you will enjoy your last sunrise and breakfast in this beautiful National Park in Uganda with a walk to top of Murchison Falls for about 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Your guide will then drive you across the beautiful sceneries back to Entebbe and drop you off at Entebbe International Airport 3 hours before your departure time.
