Itinerary for 8-Days Primates, Queen Elizabeth, Ishasha, Lake Bunyonyi & Zebras Adventure

Day 1
To Kibale National Park with a stopover at Amabereganyinamwiru Cultural Site

On this day, you will have your breakfast at leisure and embark on a drive to Kibale National park with several stops along the way for beautiful scenery, landscape viewing among others before reaching Fort Portal town for your lunch.

After lunch, you will go for stalagmites, Crater lakes, birds viewing, Hill climbing among others at Amabereganyinamwiru cultural site in Fort Portal before checking in to Kibale Forest Camp for your relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

On arrival, you will check in to Kibale Forest Camp for your dinner & overnight stay. Your stay in Kibale Forest Camp for the next two nights will offer you a unique jungle experience. You will get absorbed by forest smells and sounds, spot primates swinging through the trees and observe rare birds and beautiful butterflies fluttering around. The elegant tented camp is located in a patch of evergreen forest which borders the Magombe swamp and is a mere 10 min drive to where your chimp tracking will start.

Day 2
Chimpanzees Tracking & Visit to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

On this day, you will wake up early and have breakfast before moving to Kibale National Park for Chimpanzees Tracking experience where you will have the opportunity to follow an experienced guide into the forest to observe these fascinating creatures at a close range. Watching them interact with each other and go about their daily routine of grooming, playing and foraging is an incredible experience. While your chances of encountering chimpanzees are high during your tracking excursion, it is never 100% guaranteed. These are, after all, wild animals with wills and minds of their own!

In the afternoon after your lunch, you can choose whether you would like to go for Community walk or go deeper into the forest on a Swamp Walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary; home to 8 primate species, over 200 bird species, butterflies and various reptiles before returning to the Lodge/Camp for your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3
To Queen Elizabeth National Park for Afternoon Game Drive

After your morning breakfast, you will embark on an exciting drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park situated in the shadows of Mt. Rwenzori with several stops along the way for relaxation, equator and landscape viewing before reaching the Park in the afternoon.

You will have lunch and go for afternoon game drive where you will expect to see elephant, buffalo, antelopes and giraffe and keep your fingers crossed for lion and leopard. The game track network converges is at Kyambura sector.

After your afternoon game drive, you will check in to Pumba Safari Cottages for your dinner and overnight stay. Pumba Safari Cottages is a great Lodge by Queen Elizabeth national park-located in a prime wildlife area. The lodge is located in Kyambura overlooking Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 4
Game Drive & Boat Safari on Kazinga Channel

On this day, your safari breakfasts will be served before the day breaks so that you can start your morning game drive as the sun comes up. Sunrise is the best time for wildlife spotting as animals tend to be the most active during the “golden hours”, when the first rays of sunshine come to rest on the savannah. Elephants, buffalo and several species of antelope are some of the characters you may come across today, and if you’re lucky, you may even spot a lion or leopard.

You will return for lunch and later in the day when the sun is high in the sky and the animals make their way to the river for a drink, you will head to Kazinga Channel for an exciting boat safari. You will spot more hippos today than you can possibly imagine. Herds of elephants and buffalo will also be wandering down to the shoreline to bath in the cooling waters. It will be a wonderful experience.

After the boat safari, you will return to the lodge for your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5
To Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with a stopover at Ishasha Sector

On this day, you will wake up early and have your breakfast then transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park while enjoying a scenic drive that allows you to view the beautiful and varied country side. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in the southwestern part of Uganda on the rim of the Rift Valley. More notably, this “impenetrable forest” protects an predictable 320 population of mountain gorillas – approximately half of the population in the world, among which are a number of habituated groups, that can be tracked by visitors.

You will stop for a game drive at Ishasha Sector where you will be likely to view tree climbing lions among other species.

You will arrive in the evening and check in to Buhoma Community Rest Camp for your dinner and overnight. Buhoma Community Rest Camp gives outdoor enthusiasts a taste of safari-style living and is an excellent base camp for gorilla trekking, as well as observing the many endemic bird species that inhabit the region.

Day 6
Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi & Canoe Ride on Lake Bunyonyi

After your breakfast, you will hike to the Park headquarters just meters from the Lodge for briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority guides before transferring to the starting point for Mountain Gorillas tracking. Your tracking experience will be an exciting, yet challenging, journey along forested slopes, tangled vines, thick vegetation & bamboo forests before you reach the territory of these gentle giants. The visit will give you a glimpse into the life of a Mountain Gorilla family & if you are lucky enough to gaze into the eyes of a Mountain Gorilla. Visiting Mountain Gorillas will take you 3 hours to a full day trek through the forest since Mountain Gorillas move from one place to another every day looking for food & water.

After Mountain Gorillas tracking, you will go for a Canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi, a scenic highland lake with 29 verdant islands that are good for guided excursions in dugout canoes (optional) before checking in to the lodge for your dinner & overnight stay.

Day 7
To Lake Mburo National Park for Afternoon Boat Safari

On this day, you will have your morning breakfast and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. It is the smallest and is home to 350 bird species as well as zebra, impala, eland, buffalo, oribi, Defassa waterbuck, leopard, hippo, hyena, topi and reedbuck.

You will arrive in the afternoon and have lunch and go for afternoon boat safari that will get you come face to face with the flora and fauna of the lake. And along the bank, you will also see many animals that come to the water especially in the dry season. You will also see many hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, buffaloes, and over 3 types of otters that are found in the lake. Also when it comes to the birds, you will view the malachite kingfishers, African Fish eagles, blue headed weavers, Rufuos long tailed starlings, the pied kingfishers, hammerkobs, Herons, pelicans, the rare shoebill as well as the cormorants.

After your boat safari, you will check in to Eagle’s Nest Lodge located on a high hill with the best views in Uganda for your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8
Game Drive & Departure

On this day, you will enjoy your last sunrise in this beautiful side of Uganda with your safari breakfast served before the day breaks so that you can start your morning game drive where you will be assured of spotting Zebras, Buffalos, Impalas, Warthogs, Waterbucks among others.

After your game drive, you will have your lunch before your guide drive you across the beautiful sceneries back to Entebbe and drop you off at Entebbe International Airport 3 hours before your departure time. Please make sure your flight departure is after 4 pm at the very earliest.
