4 days Rwanda gorillas and golden monkeys is probably one of the best African safari experience you will ever have. A combination of the Kigali city tour, golden monkeys and the mountain Gorillas.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from Airport- Volcanoes National Park
You will be picked by your driver/guide on arrival and drive you to Kigali-Rwanda’s capital for lunch in the city. You will have a city tour at the genocide memorial site, also have a visit in art galleries to learn about this country’s history. Embark on your journey to Volcanoes National Park which is approximately 80 km north of Rwanda from Kigali. Arrive at the park in the evening hours and check in at the lodge, have dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking-Volcanoes
Enjoy your breakfast in the morning, you will be picked up by your guide/driver that will take you to the headquarters of the park, where you will be briefed about the guidelines for gorilla trekking in the park. Gorilla trekking starts at 8:00am walking through the thick forest in search for a habituated Gorilla family and when you meet these gentle giants. Enjoy watching them play and feed for a full hour and take picture if you wish to. You will have a chance to see monkeys, buffaloes and various bird species. Later after trekking head back to the lodge for a late lunch. You can choose to take a walk in the community or choose to stay and relax at the lodge.
Day 3: Golden monkey tracking
Have breakfast early enough and head to the park for briefing and enter the forest to track the golden monkeys. These are a rare primate species that live in the hills of Virunga mountains including volcanoes national park. These golden monkeys have been habituated and are available for tracking without altering their behavior. They are very shy creatures but they are used to the presence of human beings. Return to the lodge for lunch and visit a local school in the afternoon to interact with the locals. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4: Kigali city tour- Departure
After a delicious breakfast, check out of the lodge and transfer to Kigali airport for your flight depending on your flight schedule. If time allows, you will visit a few places like pottery projects, markets, handicraft shops, the national museum etc. Lunch will be in Kigali toen and depart to the airport.
